I had been with an NHS mental health service for about 3 ish years and I found that my mental health recovery was lacking something. I needed something that made up the gap on my recovery. I can’t quite remember when or how I was introduced to TCM, which was an external group that is not affiliated to the NHS, and after a few weeks I found what I was looking for.

TCM is a group of friends that meet up on Zoom 3 to 4 times a week where we can talk about anything and get advice from my TCM friends which can make me  think of a problem in a different way, this I find is important to me.

TCM also has a WhatsApp group which is broken up into different categories from “Dad Jokes” to just general chat.

I couldn’t recommend TCM high enough for the help and friendship that I have received and I love joining the Zoom meetings and I can’t thank them enough.

Before i joined TCM, i had nobody i talk to.

TCM, gave something to look forward to in the week, that would otherwise be very lonely. As im a isolated, I have no-one i can chat with. Even when the TCM group not on, there is always the WhatsApp group, that you can chat/rant on, no matter what the time of day/night it is .

If it wasnt for the TCM group, Dec 2025, after I had a medical emergency which cause a hospital stay from 22nd to 29th, with an operation on 25th. I felt so very alone (depression made that 1000x worse).  When I logged back into TCM after I returned home,  the 2 mods asked how I was, and if there was anything they could do. That session they just sat & listened to me explaining what I’d been through since the start of it, how i felt and what I was feeling. Not once did they intrupt me, once I finished, they then they asked questions, which I didnt mind, it helped me in a way to understand it myself. I think that if it hadn’t been for TCM, I dont think I would have coped, or be here now.

So i would like to say thank you to TCM, Stef, and Mike.

As I exited another Mental Health community, I was at a loss and worried of what to do to keep my social and mental health journey moving forward.  A friend told me about TCM.  Attending a Mental Health environment but with less strict rules, suits me down to the ground.  I can be camera on or camera off.  I can be chatty or be quiet if that is what I need to be that day.

I feel safe within TCM to show my Autism side when I want to, there isn’t the need to constantly mask and be neurotypical to fit in.

The members of TCM come from so many different ways of life, there is always something to talk about and listen to other’s life experiences.  From history, politics, culture and what makes art and what doesn’t, and our own experiences that have molded or harmed us.

There is always at least one moderator on the groups and I don’t feel any embarrassment in asking ‘could we change the subject please’.
